Glass-Gard® Films Receive GSA and ISO Bomb Blast Certification
St. Petersburg, FL, October 14, 2009: Solamatrix,
Inc. is proud to announce that its Glass-Gard® 8 mil
and 12 mil films have passed internationally recognized
bomb blast testing standards for both GSA and ISO protocols.
Already known as some of the clearest safety/security
films on the market, and with many successful tests
previously conducted, Glass-Gard products have now been
further proven to provide a high level of protection
against damage due to storms, natural disasters, criminal
activity and acts of terrorism.
Both the Glass-Gard 8 mil and 12 mil films passed the
US General Services Administration (GSA) Explosion Resistant
Standard with a 3B rating. The tests were conducted
by an independent laboratory using multi-ply film with
a wet-glaze anchoring system on ¼", single-pane,
annealed glass. In addition, Glass-Gard 8 mil passed
the ISO 16933 test for arena air blast loading, receiving
an EXV33 classification. The film was tested on ¼” annealed
glass in conjunction with two different anchoring systems
(gullwing and wet-glaze), receiving the same classification
for both.
“In our current world climate it is unfortunate that
we must be aware of and prepared for possible acts of
violence including terrorist bomb attacks. While no
product can fully protect us from all possible scenarios,
these tests further prove that Glass-Gard films can
significantly help mitigate damage and reduce injuries
in such an event. We are pleased with the results of
these independent tests as they provide further proof
of how impressively these films can perform,” says Jeffrey
Plummer, Senior Vice President of sales and marketing
for Solamatrix.
Glass-Gard safety/security films are available in a
full range of thicknesses and shades, ranging from optically
clear to reflective silver, offering many additional
benefits including:
• Protection from harmful UV rays – Glass-Gard films
can block up to 99% of the sun’s damaging rays.
• Privacy – Glass-Gard silver films offer privacy with
a reflective look to the exterior appearance of windows.
• 24-hour protection – Day and night, Glass-Gard safety/security
films act as a layer of protection in the event of glass
breakage.
• Solar heat reduction – Many Glass-Gard films reduce
the amount of unwanted solar heat from entering a building
thus providing added energy saving benefits.
